The Chicago White Sox organization have announced their plans to broadcast much of their Spring Training games on one or more mediums of either television, radio, or Internet audio stream. In total, 20 out of the team's 33 Spring Training games will be made available for the eyes or ears of fans. |

With next week being the start of February, and thus, Black History Month, Comcast SportsNet Chicago is planning on a series of specials features highlighting prominent African-American sports figures, teams and moments which will air every Sunday night in February, beginning on Sunday, February 5th. The segments will air Sundays on CSN's SportsNet Central at 10:30pm. In addition, this February, Comcast SportsNet Chicago's website will present a pair of profile feature stories on two of Chicago's greatest basketball icons. |

The Comcast Corporation (principal owner of NBCUniversal), NBC News and WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 Chicago today announced a pledge of over $2.7 million worth of financial support, advertising, and more to the new Museum of Broadcast Communications (MBC), located in downtown Chicago. The money, air time and other help from Comcast will go toward helping complete the new museum's construction and help promote it to the public. |

The Chicago Tribune today unveiled its new membership-only literary section called "Printers Row." The new section will be included to those who pay the additional fee for it each weekend, along with their Sunday Tribune, beginning in late February. |

Former WKQX-FM/Q101 midday personality Electra, who has been off the air since her radio station was forced to flip formats as part of an exchange in ownership last July, has found new work, at least for this weekend. Electra, using her real name of Christine Pawlak, is an online reporter this weekend, working live from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. |

WLS-FM has given its fans a "Good News/Bad News" situation today. The good news is the full-time return of John Records Landecker to its airwaves, returning to the nighttime hours that first made him a household name on WLS-AM in the 1970s. The bad news is that to make room for Landecker's shift, hours are being cut back from station mainstays Dick Biondi and Greg Brown and their shifts are moving. The changes all take effect on this coming Monday, January 23rd. |

The Chicago Cubs organization have announced their plans to broadcast almost every one of their Spring Training games on one or more mediums of either television, radio, or Internet audio stream. In total, 30 out of the team's 35 Spring Training games will be made available for fans. (The five that will not be available happen on days when the club plays two games simultaneously using a split squad.) |

Chicago radio veteran Scott Childers has been promoted to Program Director of WSSR-FM/Star 96.7. This comes after many months of being the Assistant Program Director and then the "Interim" Program Director for the station. Childers will remain Star 96.7's afternoon drive host, as well. |

WMAQ-TV has today announced the hire of Daniella Guzman, who will be joining the station in March as its new morning newscast co-anchor. Guzman fills the vacancy left when Zoraida Sambolin left at the end of last year to take a position with CNN. |

Two weeks from today, north suburban NextMedia-owned WKRS-AM 1220 will be flipping from an English-speaking political & regional news/talk station to a Spanish talk station. Starting February 1st, WKRS-AM will be primarily carrying broadcasts from the nationally syndicated ESPN Deportes sports talk network. It will also be keeping some of its weekend talk programming that was already in Spanish. |

As first mentioned HERE before anywhere else, JBTV -- Chicago's longest-running independent television program dedicated to new, local, independent and alternative music and artists -- is going nationwide. A start date for the nationwide broadcast has now been finalized. Originally believed to be starting in late January, it will now begin on February 18th. |

After finding it was too difficult to work for both WIMS-AM & WLS-FM, John Records Landecker, a true Chicago radio legend, has decided to stick with just one station: Chicago's WLS-FM. Landecker exited WIMS-AM as of Friday. |

CBS Radio Chicago today announced a change in their sales leadership as Mark Day takes over as Director of Sales for the Chicago cluster of six stations on seven frequencies. He replaces Peter Bowen, who now exits to become the Director of Sales for CBS Radio's Los Angeles cluster. Both appointments are effective immediately. |
