William J. Kelly, the radio & TV personality who has to pay to be on the air and the Republican politician who has lost every single political race he has run, is still at it. The unabashed attention and media whore and subject of
yesterday's blog is at it once again.
Kelly continues to push his highly edited video where he lies his way into a close-up press meeting with Democratic politician Rahm Emanuel, asks rude questions to him (which are understandably ignored), and provokes a confrontation with WBBM-TV's Jay Levine and WLS-TV's Charles Thomas. He has sent this video out to every right-wing blogger in America, with the slanted view that the press is trying to protect Rahm Emanuel.
Kelly, seeking more attention like a crack addict seeks another high, has asked the Chicago Police to arrest Jay Levine for assault, since he feels that Jay Levine asking Kelly to stop being a jerk and ruining his work was "assault." Jay Levine's entire conversation with Kelly was one sentence, said over his shoulder: "Let him finish or I'm gonna deck you!" Kelly had been constantly interrupting the video shoot for ABC7 & CBS2 and not letting Emanuel finish a simple sound bite. Some insiders say that on video footage NOT included in Kelly's little theatrical piece, but on both ABC7's & CBS2's video, Kelly can be seen pushing Levine & Thomas in the back and kicking Levine in the back of his foot, in addition to the verbal heckling. This is what caused Jay Levine to ask Kelly to back off. Also not seen on Kelly's video, but seen by witnesses and the other professional videos is Kelly laughing about his "attack journalism" on Emanuel & the true reporters.
Now adding insult to injury, Kelly sent this out in a press release today:
A police report and request for arrest warrant is being filed this morning against CBS2 chief correspondent Jay Levine by broadcaster William J. Kelly. On Thursday evening, Chicago police reviewed a video tape submitted by Kelly of an incident that occurred on Monday at Columbus and Balboa, prior to the Columbus Day Parade, and agreed that Levine's actions qualified as assault. During the incident, Levine erupted in an outburst and threatened "to deck" Kelly, who had been asking Emanuel tough questions about his Chicago residency and the failed White House stimulus plan. ABC7's Charles Thomas was also on-tape interrupting Kelly's questions and knocking his microphone away from Emanuel.
"This morning, I am filing a warrant for CBS reporter Jay Levine's arrest," says Kelly. "To date, I have not received any word of apology from Jay Levine or from CBS' management. I know Jay Levine and CBS still believe that they had every right to threaten me and interfere with my questions to Rahm Emanuel and that is precisely the problem. That is why I think it is important to take a stand and counter media hypocrisy and arrogance in Chicago and everywhere else and that is what I am doing today."
The absolute balls this man has, to demand an apology when HE was the one being a jerk to all around him, is astounding. To ask the Chicago Police to investigate a crime and waste tax payer dollars is even more astounding from a man who would like to someday be elected to a public office. Keep in mind, despite what Kelly is saying and what some right-wing bloggers are crowing about, NO arrest warrant has been issued. It is just Kelly's request that the Chicago Police do something.
William Kelly is the same man who for MONTHS was threatening to punch Alexi Giannoulias and challenging Giannoulias to a boxing match. This was because Kelly wanted to be the candidate for Senator, but had no support behind him. He thought by trying to bait Alexi Giannoulias into a fight, he could get enough press to maybe pick up more votes than just himself and his mother. Giannoulias completely ignored Kelly, which is what the rest of the world needs to do now.
Part of me thinks that William Kelly NEEDS to be decked... repeatedly. It could not happen to a better man. However, Kelly will use that beating to claim "evil Liberals" are out to "get" him and just get another month of press out of it. About a year ago, he gained a few weeks of free publicity when he claimed he was mugged from behind and beaten up by some unseen assailants. I don't believe there was ever any proof of the mugging and no arrests were made. I guess the best thing is just ignore Kelly until the attention whore just goes away. Unfortunately, with so many ultra-conservative bloggers out there who will take any lie Kelly says and run with it, he will continue to get publicity.
It is completely ironic that this scum-sucking human being named his one-hour infomercial on WIND-AM the "Kelly Truth Squad," since being truthful is something that Kelly has not yet learned to do. Perhaps his Mother, instead of voting for him next election, should teach her little Billy that important life lesson -- but then, that would cut his total votes by half.
