Through The Pain - Major Concert Announcement

Rather than continuing to update this weekend's blog about Matthew Leone, the Chicago musician and Madina Lake bassist, who is in dire need of financial aid after suffering catastrophic injuries to his head while attempting to be a hero, this blog will give updates to a few items that have have occurred in the last few days, including a major announcement.

The money donation box that is found on the Through The Pain website, as well as on Chicagoland Radio & Media's homepage and blog page, continues to rise! Thank you to all who have donated! Since the original blog was first posted up on Saturday evening, the donations are now up over $1,400 from that point and rising.

Tickets are now on sale for the first night's show at Double Door. Get your tickets at this direct link HERE.

Here is the really BIG update. There is yet another concert being held for Matthew Leone, and this third one (which will actually come first) is major...

Next Tuesday, July 27th, at 8:00pm, Q101 and Metro present... "A Benefit For Matthew Leone" starring The Smashing Pumpkins and Kill Hannah!

This incredible show is only one week away and the ticket process begins tomorrow, Wednesday, July 21st and Noon. To help raise needed funds for Leone and to curb the chance of ticket scalping, tickets will be sold via a raffle system. Raffle tickets for the chance to see this show are only $10 each. Individuals can enter the raffle as many times as they want. Each raffle winner will receive TWO general admission tickets to this concert event. Tickets are not transferable and winners must show ID matching their raffle entry to get into the Metro. Raffle tickets will ONLY be sold via the Metro website beginning at Noon tomorrow. The direct link to order raffle tickets is HERE. The raffle will end sharply at 2:00pm on Saturday July 24, 2010, and winners will be notified via email at approximately 5:00pm that same day.

There are two other limited ways to gain access to this show. A small amount of VIP tickets will be put on sale for fans who wish to make a larger donation to the benefit. The Metro balcony VIP tickets will cost $100 each and are sold on a first come, first serve basis. Even more limited than that, a few tickets, costing $500 each will go on sale for special soundcheck VIP tickets. These rare tickets allow the ticket holder to be witness to the late afternoon soundcheck set for the Smashing Pumpkins, a meet & greet and photo opportunity, merchandise items, and a seat at a table in the balcony for the full show. These also are on a first come, first serve basis. Both types of VIP tickets will also exclusively go on sale via the Metro website at this link HERE, starting at Noon tomorrow, and going until they are sold out -- which is expected to be fast. There is a strict limit of two VIP tickets per person. VIP tickets will be held at the Metro Will Call window the day of the show and given out with proper ID.

This is an all ages show. Doors open at 6:30pm (unless you hold a Soundcheck VIP pass) and the concert starts at 8:00pm.

All proceeds from the raffle and ticket sales for this show go to the Matthew Leone Fund at Sweet Relief.

Nathan Leone, Matthew's twin brother and Madina Lake bandmate said today, "Matthew and I have been completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of compassion and support during this impossible time. It has proved that there are far more amazing people in the world than any other kind and we're grateful beyond words. Being among the biggest Smashing Pumpkins fans in the world, we still haven't processed the fact that they are contributing in such an unprecedented way. Not only is this going to be a monumental event in our lives but more importantly it's a massive statement against domestic violence, violence against women and violence in general."
