WLS-FM/WIND-AM/WYLL-AM Team Up To Sponsor 'Rockin' For The Troops 2012' Concert

As they have done for the last six years, WLS-FM & WIND-AM are both sponsoring the annual concert to support our men & women in the US military, the "Rockin' For The Troops" concert. For the second year in a row, WIND-AM's sister-station, WYLL-AM is also one of the concert's sponsors. The concert, which is the seventh annual one, is put together by Operation Support Our Troops - America (formerly known as Operation Support Our Troops - Illinois).

The "Rockin' For The Troops" concert will be held on Saturday, July 21st at its usual location: Cantigny Park in Wheaton (1S151 Winfield Road). The concert will once again be headlined by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band (featuring the "Forrest Gump" and "CSI: NY" actor, and Chicago native, Gary Sinese).

Joining Sinise's band this year will be the return of Big John Howell & the Born to Boogie Band. Howell, the WIND-AM morning show co-host, first formed the Born to Boogie Band back in 1988, when he served as bandleader to a short-lived local TV show starring the Chicago Bears' Dan Hampton. After that, the band has on & off toured bars and festivals around Chicagoland, playing country/rock/soul covers, attracting fantastic crowds wherever they played. For this weekend's appearance at the "Rockin' For The Troops" concert, Howell will also bring on stage to sing with him and the band, the other WIND-AM morning show co-host, Amy Jacobsen.

Other artists playing at the concert this Saturday include: Motown tribute band The Voices (second year in a row for them), local rockers 7th Heaven, singer/songwriter Isabela Nanni, and singer/songwriter Erin Viancourt.

Cantigny Park opens at Noon, with the music beginning around 2:30pm, with John Howell and the Born to Boogie Band kicking off the show.

Tickets are only $25 and are available now at select Jewel-Osco locations in Wheaton, Naperville, West Chicago and Bolingbrook. Tickets also available online at this link HERE.

All proceeds from event tickets sales, event raffles, and sales during the event go to benefit the programs of Operation Support Our Troops - America. The Naperville & Lisle, IL-based Operation Support Our Troops - America is an all volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the morale of troops serving in harm's way, support the families of deployed military and provide help and support for the returning wounded. The organization will use much of the proceeds from Saturday's event to send large care packages of items that are not readily available to US troops in their deployed locations, along with personal letters, cards and notes of support from the community at large.

More information on this organization can be found at OSOTAmerica.org. More information on this upcoming concert event for a good cause can be found at RockinForTheTroops.org.
