NextMedia General Manager Patrick Pendergast has announced the promotion of Scott Kosak from WERV-FM Station Manager to WERV-FM General Manager. He will take over in this new role effective next Monday, April 2nd.
Kosak began as
Station Manger of classic rock WERV-FM/95.9 The River on August 8, 2011. In the last seven months, the station has seen its ratings and revenue increase, justifying the promotion by NextMedia. Kosak now replaces Patrick Pendergast in that role. With WERV-FM in seemingly fine hands, Pendergast will now be able to better focus his time as General Manager of NextMedia Chicago's four station cluster serving the Chicago South and Southwest Suburbs.
Patrick Pendergast said in a statement today: "Given the continued, steady growth in revenue and ratings for 95.9 The River under Scott's guidance, we felt this was the appropriate next step in what we are confident will be a long and successful career with NextMedia. We couldn't be any happier with the powerhouse 95.9 The River has become for listeners and advertisers in the Aurora, Naperville, Fox Valley area and beyond. Scott possesses all of the attributes and skills needed to keep this momentum moving forward."
Scott Kosak added: "The chance to lead 95.9 The River, and the devoted staff, is the type of opportunity that doesn't come along often. As The River continues to grow, as it has over the past 18 months, we'll continue to focus on local news and events in the communities we reach, while also working with business owners across the western suburbs to find effective and efficient ways to help them grow their businesses."
Kosak, a longtime Naperville resident, previously spent almost six years with WUSN-FM/US 99.5 as an Account Executive, and later, as its Local Sales Manager. He was then promoted to Motorsports Marketing and Sales Manager for CBS Radio, where he worked for three years. Since leaving CBS Radio almost four years ago, he started up Left Turn Marketing, Inc., a Naperville-based marketing agency, and the website RacingIn.com.
