Northwest Indiana's WLPR-FM/The Lakeshore will be one of only seven NPR affiliates in the country to debut the newest NPR program, "The TED Radio Hour." The show will be heard tomorrow, Wednesday May 2nd from Noon-1:00pm, and again from 6:00pm-7:00pm.
TED is a non-profit organization founded in 1984 devoted to "Ideas Worth Spreading." The TED conferences bring together the best & brightest minds from the worlds of
Technology,
Entertainment, and
Design. TED has teamed up with NPR for a special ten episode series entitled "The TED Radio Hour."
The show is hosted by Alison Stewart, the former anchor of the PBS series "Need to Know" and one-time MTV host. "The TED Radio Hour" will play some of the many speeches and brilliant ideas spoken at TED Talks conferences. Each show will have one central theme running through it and will play a speech that addresses that particular week's theme. Tomorrow's theme is that of "Happiness."
The Lakeshore will air a new episode of "The TED Radio Hour" each Wednesday for the next ten weeks. For now, the new radio show displaces "Followup with Steve Walsh" from its line-up.
WLPR-FM has its studios in Merrillville, IN and broadcasts from Lowell, IN. The station can be heard throughout Northwest Indiana, most of Chicago's south suburbs and into Chicago on 89.1FM. It can also be streamed online at
TheLakeshoreFM.com.
