95.9 The River Goes Raft Racing With The Schaumburg Boomers

WERV-FM/95.9 The River is teaming up with suburban-based professional baseball team the Schaumburg Boomers for a unique promotion. Starting this Saturday and for each home game for the rest of this season, fans in attendance can watch the River's daytime radio personalities compete in a River Rafting Challenge on the stadium's big screen in between innings.

Each Schaumburg Boomers 2012 home game from this weekend going forward will feature this fun "95.9 The River Raft Race" promotion. To occupy fans between innings, they can watch virtual images of WERV-FM's Scott Mackay, Danielle Tufano, and Mitch Michaels put on life jackets and race each other to the finish line. Fans can cheer for their favorite up on the giant stadium screen to see who wins each time.

The first time this promotion will be done is this Saturday, June 23, as the Schaumburg Boomers take on the Rockford Riverhawks at Boomers Stadium, located in Schaumburg at the southeast corner of the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway at Springinsguth Road (adjacent to Schaumburg Metra Station). For tickets and more information, visit the Boomers' website HERE.

The Schaumburg Boomers, who made their debut last month, are the new local baseball team which plays for the Midwest independent Frontier League. The team's "Boomers" name comes from the nickname for male Greater Prairie Chickens. The Boomers are already off to a great season, currently holding a record of 20 wins and 11 losses (.645), leading the Frontier League's West Division.

Scott Kosak, General Manager of WERV-FM said in a statement: "The Schaumburg Boomers are bringing great baseball back to Schaumburg and they're doing it in a grand way with a focus on interactive family fun. The opportunity for 95.9 The River to be a part of every Boomers home game and introduce Scott, Danielle, and Mitch to thousands of fans during every game was one that we couldn't pass up!"

Jeff Ney, Vice President of Corporate Sales for the Schaumburg Boomers, detailed out why he is excited by this new promotional partnership with WERV-FM. Ney said today: "With both The Boomers and 95.9 The River super-serving the heart of Chicago's western suburbs, we have gained an opportunity to introduce our brand of affordable family entertainment to the listeners of 95.9 The River. The River Raft Race on our video screen will be a fun way for our fans to get to know their personalities and learn about what's in store for them on 95.9 The River."
