93.9 Holiday Music

Yes, I know everyone is going to hate me, but I am going to start the post about 93.9's Holiday Music. With them changing to MyFM, the speculation is that the Holiday Music will have a new name and they have begun commenting on Facebook comments that it will start soon and about a surprise start date.

What I wonder now is: Obviously, when will start this year? But most important, what will they call it (how about My Holiday Lite), will Edison the Lite Nosed Reindeer return (it appears it will) and will they have a better mix like they said during the press releases???

Thoughts??? Anyone with inside info?!?

No hatred here. This question always begins around mid-October.

With "The Lite" branding dead and buried, this year, the Christmas music will be branded as "My Holiday." (The word "Lite" will not be used.) Edison will indeed be back, as well. "The Lite-Nosed Reindeer" tag line will most likely be gone, though. It's just plain ol' "Edison."

As for the start date, most likely it will be the same as the last couple of years. Decisions like that are driven by PPM, not weather or fan requests. The "December" PPM ratings period begins on Thursday, November 7th. Look for the holiday music to begin on that date, or within two days on either side of it.

Oh great, here we go again with the nonsense of playing the same damn songs over and over and over again. They can rename this stunt anything they want to, but it's still a constant loop of bad Christmas tunes. But they do get good ratings for this show, but it can be painful to listen to at times. At least there's no Delilah involved, so that's one thing going for them.

My pal Jed is always bitter until I turn on the transistor....

That's right Jed, It's that time of year again where you, Larz and I Ring in the season with a good old fashioned sing a long to the classics!!!!!!

I'm hoping we get this yearly gala underway no later than November 7th.

Ugh...I am already not liking that name of My Holiday.....it needs another word. Great to hear Edison back and yes, the 7th makes sense! Thanks! I wonder what gimmick they will use this year to tease listeners

                Vince:
As predicted, they started at the beginning of last year's "December" PPM period. They began teasing with occasional Christmas music and begging for donations to a charity on November 8th. By November 9th, it was full-blown "Holiday Lite."

Are they starting those wretched donations once again? Didn't they learn their lesson from what happened with that process a year ago? Wasn't the station vilified for that stunt? This station really takes the cake with this holiday garbage and Doc, sorry my friend, no sing-alongs with you, myself and Larz and last I checked, doesn't it take 4 guys to make up a barbershop quartet? I prefer they start it on December 23rd and end it on December 26th

I never said they were doing donations again this year. A question was asked about last year, not about this year.

I just asked a question Larz as to whether they were going to do this stunt again this year or not, nothing more and nothing less, so take it easy and relax some. No need to get bent out of shape.

You're touchy today...smile...it helps soothe the soul and maybe you need to tune in to the Holiday Lite for one day yourself to feel at ease.

BUT...could they be pulling this same stunt yet again this year? I say the chances are after last year's stunt went bad, I don't think they'll be dumb enough to do it again this year. Just saying.

As long as they're going to play Christmas music again, why don't they at least do it right and play it through New Year's Day instead of stopping in between the two actual holiday days?

Maybe they're also getting sick and tired themselves of playing the same damn tunes nonstop from early November through late December, so why extend it to the end of the year anyways?

Still say they should play it from December 23-26 only and call it a day.

Alot of idiots in this thread. If you dont like it, dont listen to it. Christmas is suppose to have a joyful time and soundtrack attached to it. I love the idiot above who basically says call it a day. I miss the days when people cherished this time of year, beyond how much they were getting. Each decade we getting further away from what this time of year means..
