In 1982, WBBM-FM flipped to a format known as "Hot Hits" -- a format similar to 70's AM Top 40 format, and a precursor to today's CHR formats. The station was then rebranded as "96 Now" and brought in a new crop of upbeat DJs to entertain Chicago. (Only one of those original "96 Now" DJs, Gary Spears, is still heard on the air in Chicago today.) The overnight host was Bob Lewis. The following audio clip is an aircheck of his from 30 years ago today. (Running time: 4:57)
