Today is Steve King's birthday. Long before Steve King became one of Chicago's finest radio talk show hosts, working alongside his wife, Johnnie Putman on WGN-AM's live & local overnight show, "The Steve and Johnnie Show," he was a rock & roll DJ at a few radio stations around town. He was most famously part of the WLS-AM roster of DJs in the 70's, beginning there in 1973. Long before he was spinning records on the radio, he was making them. More than a decade before joining WLS, Steve King was making some early rock and rockabilly records in the Midwest. A pair of singles were released on Chicago's Cha Cha Records label in the very early 60's. Here now is both the A side and B side to young Steve King's first single on that label (Cha Cha Records #717). The scratchy sounds of the needle on an old 45 RPM record are included -- no extra charge.
