"The Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatle Years & Beyond with James D. Jones" is a long-running Beatles-themed radio show, which has been heard on south suburban Chicago radio since 1999, most recently heard each Sunday afternoon on WKCC-FM in the Kankakee area. The podcasts found here have been created EXCLUSIVELY for the Chicagoland Radio & Media website, by the show's host, James D. Jones, "Everybody's Favorite Tour Guide!" 06/12/2016 - This weekend's "Magical Mystery Tour" podcast is again split into two parts. The first hour focuses on the early works of the Beatles when they were just four young lads from Liverpool. 06/05/2016 - The newest "MMT" podcast by James D. Jones takes a deep look at The Beatles' influential masterpiece "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," which was released this month in 1967, as well as a helpful handful of the best of the solo works of John, Paul, George, and Ringo.


05/22/2016 - This week's "MMT" podcast is a two-hour fantasy concert of what it might sound like if the Beatles reunited for a live show. Tickets to the concert -- front row seats even -- are courtesy of James D. Jones.


05/01/2016 - It is a brand new MMT podcast from James D. Jones! On this special extra-length show, Jones presents The Beatles' songs with unique mixes from the 2009 video game release "The Beatles: Rock Band." As the contract between The Beatles and the video game creators has expired and will not be renewed, this could be the only place to hear these different song mixes. The many Beatles tracks from the game's soundtrack, remixed/remastered/re-produced by Giles Martin, have never been made available commercially.


04/17/2016 - One year ago this weekend, Ringo Starr was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (as a solo artist). On this Magical Mystery Tour podcast, James D. Jones looks at Starr's contributions to the Beatles for the first hour, as well as an hour-long look at Starr's solo-efforts. Peace and love!


04/10/2016 - On this date in 1970, Paul McCartney revealed to the world that The Beatles had indeed broken up. For this particular Magical Mystery Tour podcast, James D. Jones assembles solo tracks from John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr from 1970 and 1971 to create what could have been the next couple of Beatles albums, had they not broken up. 04/03/2016 - Spring has sprung and so springs forth a new Magical Mystery Tour podcast from James D. Jones. The first hour is all Beatles tracks, including plenty of rare alternate versions of familiar favorites. The second hour features an abundance of deep tracks from the Beatles' solo years.

02/21/2016 - The anniversary of George Harrison's birth is on February 25th. The late rock music icon would have been 73 years old this week. In honor of that, James D. Jones presents a special all-George edition of the Magical Mystery Tour podcast, with the first hour focusing on his years with The Beatles and the second hour focusing on his solo efforts.


02/14/2016 - James D. Jones presents a brand new MMT podcast for the ears of Beatles fans everywhere. The first hour looks at The Beatles arrival in Miami on February 13, 1964, as well as a sampling of the "Help" sessions. The second hour is a Valentine's Day special featuring the solo music of John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

01/01/2016 - For New Year's Day, host James D. Jones has a special show to help ring in the new year. The first hour has The Beatles' rare audition recordings from before they were signed to a record deal and featuring Pete Best on drums. These were recorded on New Year's Day in 1962. The second hour features solo hits of the Fab Four, including George Harrison's New Year's song, "Ding Dong Ding Dong." It can all be heard right here:


12/08/2015 - With today being the 35th anniversary of John Lennon's death, James D. Jones pays tribute to the influential member of the Beatles. This special Magical Mystery Tour includes songs of Lennon's with the Beatles, solo efforts, and rare interviews with him.

With the upcoming remastered re-release of Paul McCartney's early 1980's classics "Tug of War" and "Pipes of Peace," James D. Jones takes an in-depth look at the albums. 09/15/2015 - The first hour features tracks from the Dutch Beatles release "De Mooiste Songs (Wereldsterren)." This 1980 album contained songs from throughout the Beatles career. The second hour has tracks from the post-Beatles years by John, Paul, George, and Ringo, assembled in such a way that it sounds like a Beatles reunion album.



09/07/2015 - The first hour features favorites and rarities from the Fab Four. The second hour has tracks from the post-Beatles years by John, Paul, George, and Ringo. This will include a brand new track: "Come and Get It" by the Hollywood Vampires, featuring Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry, and others.


08/30/2015 - The first hour features tracks from the rare, Japan-only, red vinyl series, known for its pristine mono sound quality. The second hour is a Beatles Fantasy Reunion concert, highlighting live tracks from the post-Beatles solo years.


08/23/2015 - The first hour is looks at the unreleased Beatles album "Sessions," which was a collection of rarities that was to be put out by Capitol Records in 1985, but pulled before it could be sold to the public. The second hour highlights the solo efforts of John, Paul, George, and Ringo -- assembled by James D. Jones in such a way that it feels as if the band never broke up.

08/15/2015 - It's a special MMT podcast that has the first half celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' concert at Shea Stadium. The podcast features the full, unedited, cleaned-up version of the concert not available commercially. The second half of the podcast features deep cuts from the solo, post-Beatles years of the Fab Four.


08/09/2015 - Time for another two-hour MMT podcast from James D. Jones, featuring an alternate Japanese-only mix of The Beatles' "Abbey Road," as well as over an hour of some of the best songs from the solo careers of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr.


07/23/2015 - It's another two-hour MMT by James D. Jones, with the first hour showcasing the brilliance of the Beatles and the second hour spotlighting the post-Beatles careers of John, Paul, George, and Ringo.


07/14/2015 - After two months of super-special episodes, the regular "MMT" shows return. For this week's podcast, the first hour looks at mid-era Beatles, showcasing music from the time period around "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver." Jones presents an unreleased concert of Starr's from June 28, 2014, which took place at the Chicago Theatre in downtown Chicago. 07/07/2015 - A RINGO STARR BIRTHDAY SPECIAL! Ringo Starr turns 75 years old today. To celebrate this milestone, the Magical Mystery Tour takes an over three-hour look at the musical career of the world's most famous drummer.




06/28/2015 - A PAUL McCARTNEY INDEPENDENCE DAY SPECIAL! With the 4th of July taking place this week, James D. Jones presents an unreleased concert of McCartney's from July 4, 1990, which took place at RFK Stadium in the nation's capital.


06/18/2015 - A SECOND PAUL McCARTNEY SUPER-SIZED SPECIAL! With today being 73rd birthday, James D. Jones takes his listeners on a BONUS 3.5 hour trip, featuring nothing but McCartney's words and music!
