Comcast SportsNet is proud to be the television headquarters for the 2010-2011 Chicago Bulls and broadcasting 42 live regular season games, plus more.
The station will be broadcasting all of the games in HD, as well as in-depth pre-game and post-game shows.
The new season officially kicks off for CSN on October 30th with the Chicago Bulls home opener versus division rivals, the Detroit Pistons. A special one-hour pre-game show begins at 6:00pm, with the game broadcast beginning at 7:00pm. After the game, the live post-game broadcast will feature new Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau's post-game press conference, along with live locker room player interviews and complete post-game analysis (as will all CSN Bulls post-game shows).
In addition to the 42 regular season games, Comcast SportsNet will also televise six of the Bulls pre-season games. The very first pre-season game aired on CSN Tuesday night. According to the Nielsen Media Research overnight ratings, the broadcast posted a 2.54 household rating, reaching approximately 89,000 total households in the Chicago market -- peaking at a 3.2 rating (over 112,000 total households). The 2.54 average rating beats CSN's previous Bulls pre-season ratings record set on October 9, 2008 (2.3 rating) and is the highest Bulls pre-season game rating on any Chicago regional sports network since October 11, 1997 when Michael Jordan played for the Bulls (3.2 rating). The next pre-season game airs tonight at 7:30pm. (Comcast SportsNet's pre-season & regular season Bulls schedule is posted below.)
For the third-straight season, the Chicago Bulls broadcasting team will be handled by play-by-play announcer Neil Funk and color analyst Stacey King. SportsNet Central's Gail Fischer, Sarah Kustok* and Luke Stuckmeyer will rotate as the primary courtside reporters for Bulls 20 home game telecasts this season.
(*Note: Sarah Kustok is currently on a leave of absence to deal with a family tragedy. It is uncertain when she will be able to return at this time.)
Just in time for the new Bulls (and Blackhawks) season, Comcast SportsNet is also premiering a new graphics package, which includes new animations, new on-screen score bug and new transitions. The pre-game and post-game sets have been redesigned, as well.
A handful of Chicago Bulls broadcasts (five regular season and two pre-season Bulls games) will have to be pushed to the Comcast SportsNet Plus channel this season, due to conflicts with other live sporting events being broadcast on CSN. (See schedule below.) Viewers are urged to visit CSNChicago.com or contact their television provider for exact channel location for all CSN+ games in their area.
Comcast SportsNet's
website will once again cover the Bulls 24/7. Bulls "Insider" Aggrey Sam will cover all Bulls home and away games and will file online video reports following all games. Additionally, he will host a weekly live chat on the website, will make regular on-air appearances on Bulls Pre-Game Live & SportsNet Central throughout the season, blog & Twitter about the team. The website will also provide a live stream of Coach Thibodeau's post-game press conferences following all home games, thorough game video highlights, video news reports from Berto Center Bulls practices, live streams of non-game related team press conferences, daily players/coaches interviews, 24/7 breaking news coverage, Bulls Pre/Post Game Live host Mark Schanowski's blog, a new Bulls "In-Game Live" web application delivering real-time scoring data, and much more.
