ESPN Radio today decided it was time to announce new Program Directors for their radio station vacancies in Los Angeles and Chicago. For Chicago's WMVP-AM, better known as ESPN 1000, the new Program Director is a very familiar name to staffers: Adam Delevitt.
Adam Delevitt had been the Assistant Program Director under PD Justin Craig, who announced
last month that he was moving to New York to take over as PD at an ESPN sister-station there. Delevitt had been the APD of the station since the end of December 2005, and has twice been the interim PD.
The promotion does not come as a surprise to many, as he was the odds-on successor to the role from the time Craig chose to leave. Delevitt is a long-time employee of the station, starting there in 1998, and is very well liked by all.
Prior to joining WMVP-AM, Adam Delevitt worked for WGN, in both their radio & TV divisions, working on Cubs & sports broadcasts for the stations.
J Hood said of him back in 2009, "Adam Delevitt, should be a program director. He's a solid peoples person and is more qualified than most that have tried sit in the big chair."
In a 2006
interview with Rick Kaempfer, Dan McNeil was quoted as saying "Adam Delevitt is like a little brother to me." (Delevitt used to be McNeil's WMVP producer.)
Chet Coppock said to CRM recently that Adam Delevitt "defines the word class -- a truly genuine guy." Adding "If you don't like Adam, you don't like people."
Adam Delevitt's promotion to Program Director is effective immediately.
Devlitt, 34, is married and lives in the northern suburbs.
