WGN-AM's Vice-President and General Manger Tom Langmyer has been working hard to undo some of the 23 months of damage done to the station and its fans by its recently fired Program Director Kevin Metheny. One of the many ways Langmyer is doing that is by bringing back a very familiar voice to the WGN Radio airwaves. Welcome back, Bill Moller!

A little over four months after Kevin Metheny arrived at WGN-AM, he began to start swinging his programing ax. The fist cuts came at the end of April 2009, when Kevin Metheny fired three shows and four WGN personalities. Quickly shown the door then were longtime News Director Wes Bleed, Alex Goldfayn and his Saturday night "Technology Tailor" show, Steve Dale and his Sunday night "Pet Central" show, and Bill Moller and his show "Your Money with Bill Moller."
Bill Moller's live financial talk show previously aired on WGN-AM from 1:00pm-4:00pm each Saturday afternoon. (It was also called "The Money Show" for a short while.) Unlike many financial shows which are overly reactionary and "in your face," or simply infomercials for a brokerage firm, Bill Moller's programs were simple, thoughtful, non-political, intelligent discussions between the host, guests and callers, with no ulterior motives other than to inform and educate the audience.
Moller also was a frequent fill-in host during the weekdays, taking over any day shift from mornings to "Extension 720" at night, prior to Kevin Metheny's arrival. Moller first started at WGN-AM in April 2006.
Just a few months after being dumped by WGN-AM's program director, Steve Dale's "Pet Central" found a home on WLS-AM and Bill Moller's "Your Money" show followed Dale's over to WLS-AM shortly thereafter. However, as of this month, Bill Moller is off WLS-AM's weekend schedule.
That is mainly due to Moller accepting WGN-AM's invitation to come back home where he belongs, even if only on a freelance basis at this point. Moller will now be an official fill-in host for WGN-AM. He will be doing try-outs/fill-ins on some of the "WGN Weekend" shows on Saturday mornings and filling in for vacationing weekday personalities.
For now, Bill Moller can next be heard on WGN Radio on Saturday, December 4, working the 9:00am-1:00pm shift. He will also be filling in for Greg Jarrett's 5:00am-8:30am shift at the end of December, while Jarrett takes a couple of weeks off to enjoy the holidays and recuperate from some minor surgery he will be having.
Many fans will also remember Bill Moller as one of CLTV's initial news anchors and show hosts from its inception in 1993 until he departed in February 2006. Among his many awards and honors includes two Associated Press Awards, two prestigious journalistic Peter Lisagor Awards, and three Emmy Awards. He has been an adjunct professor at Columbia College and was appointed the first Annenberg Scholar at Principia College in Elsah, IL, where he taught Broadcasting and Speech Communications in 2008. He is frequently asked to emcee events or moderate political debates.
Since exiting WGN-AM last April, he has been running
Bill Moller Communications, a speaking and presentation coaching program.
