WGN-AM To Air 21 Hours Of Holiday Programming

WGN-AM is set to air twenty-one straight hours of new Christmas programming, beginning on Christmas Eve and running well into Christmas Day. There will be a wide variety of specials hosted by WGN Radio's personalities, three holiday specials featuring the three sports franchises WGN-AM airs: the Cubs, Blackhawks, and Wildcats, as well as a live Midnight Mass from Holy Name Cathedral.

WGN Radio personalities -- Greg Jarrett, Mike McConnell, John Williams, Garry Meier, Milt Rosenberg, Steve & Johnnie, Orion Samuelson & Max Armstrong, Nick Digilio and Dean Richards -- will each have holiday specials. The majority of the specials will be one-hour in length, although the Steve & Johnnie Christmas Special is four hours long, while Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong's "Christmas on the Farm" special is only a half hour long. All will feature the WGN hosts sharing stories about their traditions and memories of holiday seasons past.

Since WGN-AM has the rights to three of Chicago's top sports franchises, they will also be doing three sports-themed holiday shows: "Christmas with the Cubs," "Christmas with the Blackhawks," and "Christmas with the 'Cats." The specials will be filled with players and organization members from the teams talking about what Christmas means to them. Among those participating in the specials are: Tom Ricketts, Ryan Dempster, Mike Quade, Jim Hendry, and Pat Hughes from the Cubs; John McDonough, Joel Quenneville, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa, Troy Brouwer and Marty Turco from the Blackhawks; and Jim Phillips, Pat Fitzgerald, Bill Carmody, Michael "Juice" Thompson, Dan Persa, and Bryce McNaul from Northwestern.

The holiday programming begins on WGN-AM tomorrow, starting at 7:00pm and continuing through Saturday at 4:00pm. Friday's programming does get repeated, but at different times, during Saturday's programming.
