Funeral & Memorial Services For James Tyree Set

Memorial services have been set for Jim Tyree, the Chairman of Sun-Times Media Holdings, as well as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mesirow Financial, who passed away Wednesday afternoon from cancer at the age of 53.

A visitation service will be held for Tyree on Monday, March 21st from Noon to 7:00pm at Old St. Pat's Church, located at 700 W. Adams in Chicago. At 7:00pm, a memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held at the church.

Funeral services will be for family and close friends only on Tuesday, March 22nd at 11:00am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, located at 6001 W. 111th Street in Alsip.

In lieu of flowers, the Tyree family has requested that donations be made to the James Tyree Charitable Fund, c/o the Chicago Community Foundation, 111 E. Wacker Drive, Suite 1400, Chicago, IL 60601. (Please have "James Tyree Charitable Fund" on the check's memo line.)

UPDATE - 3/18/11: The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled James Tyree's death an accident, caused by an air embolism that was created by removal of a dialysis catheter, while Tyree was being treated for stomach cancer and pneumonia at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
