Some changes are occurring at WKQX-FM/Q101, as a new evening DJ is finally named after seven months of a vacancy and a new Music Director is named.
Tim Pogo now takes over as evening DJ, working the 7:00pm-10:00pm shift Monday-Friday and 7:00pm-Midnight on Fridays. Although he has been filling in for that shift often over the last few months, the move becomes official on April 11th. Pogo has been with Q101 since May 2004, working mostly as a weekender. In addition to his work on the radio, Pogo is also a host on the
Nude Hippo series, seen online and on WMAQ-TV's Chicago Nonstop. In recent years, he has been a host/reporter/contributor for CLTV's Metromix show and WLS-TV's "190 North," as well as the host & producer for "Aural Fixation" on XM Satellite Radio. Before he joined WKQX-FM, Pogo spent a year at Chicago's WZZN-FM/The Zone. In his spare time, Pogo is also a rock club DJ.
Professionally, he rarely uses his first name and goes by simply Pogo.
The evening shift has been without a full-time host since
Kevin Manno left the station in August 2010 to become the co-host of MTV's new entertainment show "The Seven."

Afternoon drive personality Tim Virgin is out as Music Director. It is a role he has held since soon after coming back to WKQX-FM in July 2009. The official reason from Emmis Communications for Virgin no longer being MD is that he wanted more time to devote to his afternoon radio show. The loss of the MD title does not have any affect on Virgin's afternoon hosting shift.
Tim Virgin previously worked at WKQX-FM and WLUP-FM from 1996-1999, before moving on to other parts of the country.
Replacing Virgin as Music Director will be Nicole Gamboa, who has also been acting as Music Director at sister-station WLUP-FM since
Eddie Webb's departure, just under a year ago. She will now be MD for both stations. Gamboa has been with both stations for eleven years in various capacities, most of which have been assisting in the programming department.
In the most recent Arbitron ratings, WKQX-FM was #5 overall with a 5.1 share in their target demographic of Persons 18-34. In Persons 25-54, the modern rock station station was #17 with a 2.7 share.
