WGN-TV News To Air 'Marathon Mondays' with Marcus Leshock

The 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be taking place Sunday, October 9. WGN-TV/CLTV reporter Marcus Leshock will be running in the race for his very first time. As he prepares and trains for the big race, Leshock will be documenting his progress, along with offer tips on how to get in shape, on a new semi-regular segment called "Marathon Mondays."

The "Marathon Mondays" segments will now air Mondays (naturally) during the WGN-TV Evening Newscasts at 5:00pm. At first, the segments will be shown approximately every two to three Mondays, but will increase in frequency as it gets closer to the October marathon.

Additionally, as the training intensifies, Marcus Leshock will be documenting his progress on his blog, "The Leshock Value," now found exclusively on the WGN-TV website. (The blog previously was part of the ChicagoNow blogsite. Both the ChicagoNow blogsite and WGN-TV are owned by Tribune Company.)

The "Marathon Mondays" segments will be sponsored by Smuckers... because with a name like Leshock, it has to be good... or something like that.

Marcus Leshock has been working with Tribune Broadcasting since soon after graduating college from Northern Illinois University, where he earned his BA and MA degrees in Communications. He has been with CLTV since 2005, where he was primarily known as the host of "Metromix," and joined WGN-TV full-time in 2009 as a feature reporter. His lifestyle reports for WGN-TV focus on all aspects of pop culture including social media, off-the-beaten-path locales and current events. In 2009, Leshock won two local Emmy awards for his "Metromix" work on CLTV and for his "American Idol" recap blogs for CLTV's website.
