On Monday, Will County's WYKT-FM/The Kat 105.5
announced some big changes, which included Mike Tomano exiting the airwaves to become a VP with STARadio, Steve Touhy going solo with a new music intensive morning show, and more. Today, the biggest change is being announced... WYKT-FM has hired Freak to to reshape the far south-suburban rock station.
Beginning Tuesday, September 6th, the new afternoon host will be none other than Chicago radio veteran Freak. After announcing his exit from WRXQ-FM as afternoon personality
just last week, Freak will be back behind the mic, rocking out each weekday on the air from 3:00pm-8:00pm on WYKT-FM. That is not all Freak will be doing down at Kat 105.5, either...
Freak will also be taking over as Program Director/Music Director for the station, giving the classic rock station an edge. He will now also be heavily involved with station promotions.
On top of that, STARadio is currently building remote studios at the new bar that Freak owns and operates, Freakster's Roadhouse, located on historic Rt. 66 (113 E. Baltimore St.) in Wilmington, IL.
Freak visited the final morning show of Tomano & Touhy early this morning as the announcement was made on the air.
Mike Tomano, Vice-President and General Manager of STARadio in Kankakee excitedly said to CRM: "I'm looking forward to the new Kat! Freak is one of the best jocks in the industry and also a dedicated member of the Southland community."
