WVON's Annual Financial Seminar Returns Saturday

This Saturday, September 17th, is the return of WVON-AM's annual Financial Seminar -- the 18th year in a row for this event. The day-long financial forum featuring numerous workshops and some very special guest speakers, is one of the most comprehensive annual events of its kind offered to the Chicagoland public.

The "WVON 18th Annual Financial Seminar" will feature six special workshops, including those covering such subjects as how to re-building credit, mortgage tips & help, tax tips for small businesses, and more.

Two highly successful and respected speakers have agreed to appear at Saturday's event. Earlier in the day, local business and civic leader John Rogers, Chairman of Ariel Investments, will discuss topics including entrepreneurship, the importance of diversity in the financial market, and the latest trends for individual investors. Bringing the event to a big close will be the keynote speaker, Robert "Bob" Johnson. Johnson founded Black Entertainment Television (BET) in 1980, which he later sold for a $3 billion in 2003. He is currently the Founder and Chairman of The RLJ Companies, a business network with interests that include hotel real estate investment, consumer financial services, sports and entertainment, and video lottery gaming. Johnson will share his insights on the growing wealth gap amongst minorities, and what America must do to protect the financial stability of its citizens.

Some personalities and staffers from WVON-AM will be at the event, including Alfred Edmond Jr, the host of WVON's "Urban Business Roundtable."

As it has been for the last few years, the "WVON 18th Annual Financial Seminar" will be held this year at Malcolm X College, located at 1900 W. Van Buren Street in Chicago. The seminar goes on from 9:00am-5:00pm and is completely free to the public. Bob Johnson's keynote address will be from 6:00pm-7:00pm and there is a $30 ticket price to attend. Tickets for Johnson's speech can be purchased in advance at this link HERE.

A complete schedule, showing the workshop & speakers' times and subject matter to be covered at the Financial Seminar can be found on WVON's website at this link HERE. An advance registration for Saturday's seminar free event can also be found at that link.
