WGN-TV is partnering with CareerBuilder.com to help viewers find work. Starting next month, viewers will be able to find job postings, as well as helpful job-seeking advice, hints, and strategies with "WGN: Jobs for You."
With the unemployment rate in Illinois hovering around 10%, the "WGN News at Five" will be launching a new initiative in February to help people get back to work.
Each weekday, the "WGN News at Five" will feature "The Job of the Day," which will be a brand new job posting from CareerBuilder.com. Every Monday, WGN-TV news anchors Mark Suppelsa and Lourdes Duarte speak with experts to get the best advice on the topics viewers need to know about including who's hiring, how to use social media to their advantage and pitfalls to avoid once they get a job. There will be additional "Jobs For You" features shown throughout the month.
Beginning on February 20th, the "WGN: Jobs for You" initiative becomes interactive. Those interested can watch and participate in a live webchat and chat online with several CareerBuilder experts. There, they can have their own personal job search questions answered, and get critiques on their resumes submitted securely through WGN-TV's website.
Starting in February, the WGN-TV website will have a special page set up at WGNTV.com/Jobs
, which will have a great deal of information for those seeking employment from WGN, the Chicago Tribune & CareerBuilder.com. The page will contain job news stories, tips, trends, videos, and ways to search current job postings. (Note: That webpage is not yet active and you will see a "Page Not Found" notice there currently. It will be live next month.)
is partially owned by WGN-TV's parent corporation, Tribune Company. The other primary owners are also newspaper/media organizations: Gannett Co., Inc. and The McClatchy Company.
