WILV-FM/Rewind 100.3 has hired Lisa Allen to become its newest radio personality, taking over the evening time slot of 7:00pm-Midnight. The new position for Allen takes effect this coming Monday, April 9th.
For a great many years, Lisa Allen has been a weekend personality on sister-station WTMX-FM. When Rewind 100.3 began searching for somebody to fill their nighttime vacancy, they decided to keep it in-house and promote a long-time employee.
The nighttime vacancy at WILV-FM occurred when the station decided to part ways with Robert Murphy's morning show on March 23rd, prompting a rearrangement of on-air staff. (First exclusively reported on this very website HERE
.) Brian Peck moved back to mornings and Brian Middleton moved from evenings to afternoons -- shifts both men held prior to the hiring of Murphy seven months earlier.
This won't be Lisa Allen's first time working in a 100.3 FM studio at night, either. Nearly a decade ago, she was a producer for John Symon's evening show, when the station was still known as WNND-FM.
In addition to working weekends on the Hubbard Broadcasting-owned WTMX-FM, Lisa Allen has been working as the afternoon drive personality at NextMedia-owned* WZSR-FM/Star 105.5 in the far northwest suburbs since September 2006. To go along with her on-air duties, Lisa Allen doubled as Music Director for the Hot AC station. (*=The station has been placed in a trust for sale, and is now "officially" owned by Mile High Station Trust, while still overseen and run by NextMedia.)
With her beginning full-time at WILV-FM next week, this will be Lisa Allen's final week at Star 105.5. The station is now searching for a new afternoon drive personality to fill the void left by her leaving to work in downtown Chicago.
On her personal Facebook page this afternoon, Lisa Allen wrote
: "I am SO excited to announce my new job!! Next Monday, I will return to the Hubbard family as the host of the evening show on Rewind 100.3!! The past five and half years here at Star105 have been a blast and I'm thankful for all the incredible people I have met along the way. I genuinely feel blessed to have a feeling of family at both places. Love you all, really excited!!"
Lisa Allen is a native southside Chicagoan (Yes, she's a White Sox fan.)
and has been working in local radio for over 10 years. Among the other Chicagoland stations she has worked at over the years includes WJTW-FM in Joliet.
In an internal memo to the WILV-FM staff, written by Program Director Barry James and Hubbard Broadcasting Chicago Senior Vice President of Programming Greg Solk, BJ said: "She grew up here, and loves the life and excitement of the city." He added: "Greg and I feel incredibly fortunate to have someone here in the building that we feel is a great fit!"
WILV-FM/Rewind 100.3 is Chicago's AC station that focuses primarily on the "Hits of the 80s and 90s." Until the steep ratings decline of its recent morning show, the station had consistently been near the top of the ratings in its target demographics of Persons 25-54 and Women 25-54. Most recently, the evening time slot, now being taken over by Lisa Allen, has been its strongest daypart. In the latest released monthly ratings by Arbitron, WILV-FM's evening shift of 7:00pm-Midnight had a 3.0 share for Persons 25-54, placing it in the Top 15 for men & women ages 25-54, as well as in the Top 10 for Women 25-54.
