CSN Chicago To Air Chicago Bulls Playoffs; Sees Huge Regular Season Bulls Ratings

Comcast SportsNet Chicago, which has been the primary home for Chicago Bulls telecasts this season, will be the primary home for the first round of the Bulls' postseason, as well. The entire first round of the playoffs, with the Chicago Bulls playing the Philadelphia 76ers, will be shown on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, with the exception of Game 4, which will be shown nationally on ABC-TV.

CSN Chicago's Chicago Bulls/NBA Playoffs coverage kicks off THIS MORNING, beginning at 11:30am with its exclusive "local home team call" coverage of Game 1 live from the United Center. The pre-game show hosted by Mark Schanowski and Kendall Gill is at 11:30am, with the game itself starting at Noon. As always, the announcing tandem of Neil Funk and Stacey King will have the call for every first round telecast, plus CSN Chicago's Gail Fischer will provide in-stadium reports throughout the first round.

Immediately following today's and all of these first round playoff games -- including Game 4, which will be on ABC-TV -- CSN Chicago will have its live post-game show featuring live locker room interviews, detailed analysis, numerous player interviews, and Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau's post-game press conferences.

In other CSN Chicago/Bulls news, the local sports station released information about how fantastic the Bulls did on the air. Not only was the team spectacular on the court, leading the entire NBA with a record of 50-16, but they also brought in spectacular television ratings.

For the Bulls 2011-2012 regular season, CSN Chicago earned a 5.81 household season average rating (which equates out to approximately 203,000 households watching per game), according to Nielsen Media Research. That number is a 29% increase over last season's 4.50 final average; a 145% increase from the final season average two years ago (2.37); a 186% increase from the final season average three years ago (2.03); and a 232% increase from four years ago (1.75). The 5.81 final regular season average on Comcast SportsNet Chicago is also the highest Bulls regular season average on any Chicago regional sports network in 14 years -- since the 1997-1998 championship season.

Other Comcast SportsNet Chicago/Bulls regular season TV ratings highlights from this past regular season include:

- The top three highest-rated Bulls regular season games in CSN Chicago history all occurred this season, with the network's all-time high posted on January 25th (8.73).

- 16 Bulls telecasts on CSN Chicago this season (out of a total of 35 games) averaged a 6.0 household rating or better. Last season, out of 42 total regular season telecasts, only three games averaged at least a 6.0 rating.

- 27 Bulls telecasts on CSN Chicago this season averaged a 5.0 household rating or better. Last season, out of 42 total telecasts, only 16 games averaged at least a 5.0 rating.

- CSN Chicago also experienced solid year-to-year ratings increases in the key advertiser demo categories of Adults 18-49 & Adults 25-54, with both demo categories averaging a 3.3 rating, which is up 57% from last season for each demo.
