Midway Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of WVON-AM 1690, will be presenting the 2nd Annual "Taste of WVON" this Saturday. The all-day neighborhood festival will feature a wide array of food vendors, along with craft vendors, music, and family-friendly activities.
The "Taste of WVON" will be a 10 hour festival showcasing the best local and corporate businesses in the Chatham-Avalon community, and providing a fun-filled atmosphere for the whole family.
WVON-AM will break from their regular Saturday programming. Instead, the station will be broadcasting live from the event for almost the entire time, from 11:00am-7:00pm. Most of WVON-AM's personalities -- including Matt McGill, Perri Small, Cliff Kelley, and Salim Muwakkil -- will be at the "Taste of WVON" event to engage with the attendees, participate in event activities, and introduce acts on stage.
The scheduled music entertainment includes: Kindred the Family Soul, Che "Rhymefest" Smith, Joan Collaso, Nelly "Tiger" Travis, and Charles Jenkins & Fellowship.
In addition to all of the good food and music, the event will feature local businesses, a farmer's market, a children's tent with a moon jump and face painting, bid whist tournaments, and other activities. The Chicago White Sox will be at the festival with a huge inflatable for the children, along with baseball instructors on hand to teach pitching and catching. WVON-AM has even more surprises planned for this festival, as well.
The 2nd Annual "Taste of WVON" will take place tomorrow, July 21st from 10:00am-8:00pm, at the Lorraine Dixon Park, located at 8701 S. Dauphin in Chicago. (Located two blocks east of Cottage Grove.) Admission for this event if completely free, courtesy of WVON-AM.
Last year's "Taste of WVON" saw over 3,000 people enjoying the community-strengthening event. This year's "Taste" looks to be even bigger and better.
