Comcast SportsNet Chicago will be debuting a new game show this weekend, testing fans' knowledge of Chicago sports trivia. The new show entitled "Gas Money" premieres this Sunday, August 5th at 7:00pm.
This is the second sports-themed local game show started by CSN Chicago this summer. "The Batter's Box," a Cubs/White Sox trivia game show,
made its debut on July 1st.
For "Gas Money," the goal is for contestants to answer three local sports trivia questions. Each correct answer gains them more money for their car's gas tank -- up to $130. $10 for the first right answer, $20 for the next right answer, and $100 for the much tougher final question. One wrong answer, though, means they walk away with no gas money at all. Contestants will be found in and around Chicagoland sporting events.
The show is a localized version of "Beer Money," which previously aired on SportsNet New York (SNY) in New York City and SportsTime Ohio (STO) in Cleveland. There, three sports trivia questions are asked to contestants inside and outside of bars. That show started in 2008.

"SportsNet Central" anchor/reporter Luke Stuckmeyer, will be the host of "Gas Money." Stuckmeyer is also the host of CSN Chicago's other game show "The Batter's Box." He has been with CSN Chicago since 2004.
Susannah Collins will co-host the show with Stuckmeyer. Collins, a lifelong, die-hard Chicago sports fan, is now finally making her debut as a Chicago sports reporter with CSN Chicago, having done some fill-in work there on a freelance basis in recent weeks. She previously has done sports anchoring/reporting for Showtime Sports ("Inside the NFL," "Inside NASCAR," MMA/Boxing broadcasts, etc.) and for WCBS-TV in New York. Susannah Collins, a native of suburban Downers Grove, had also worked on the Internet sports show, "Sports Nutz."
New episodes of "Gas Money presented by Honda" will air each Sunday night at 7:00pm on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. (Some Sundays, the show may be moved to a later time due to "Bears Post Game Live" or commitments to air live Chicago sports broadcasts.) The new Sunday "Gas Money" shows will be given encore showings throughout the week at varying times.
Those who are interested on possibly appearing as a contestant on the trivia show can find out in advance where the "Gas Money" team will be appearing by following their new Twitter account,
