As The Chicago Bears Return To WFLD-TV, So Does WFLD-TV's Bears-Themed Local Programming

Locally, WFLD-TV will air more Chicago Bears games this season than any other station in Chicago (10 out of the 16 regular season games, plus all playoff games). With that much presence by the top rated television programming, it is no wonder that FOX Chicago is also doing its part to have plenty of Bears-themed shows on Sundays. Here is a look at what WFLD-TV has planned for this 2012-13 NFL Season...

FOX KICKOFF SUNDAY -- This weekly, 30-minute Bears pre-game show will be hosted by WFLD-TV's lead sports anchor Lou Canellis and former Chicago Bear Wide Receiver/current WMVP-AM host Tom Waddle. WFLD-TV weekend sports anchor Dionne Miller will provide pre-taped Chicago bears player/coach interviews and WSCR-AM host/Chicago Tribune columnist Mike Mulligan will provide expert analysis. For fun, "FOX Kickoff Sunday" will also take a weekly look at a pair of grizzly bears at Chicagoland's Brookfield Zoo, named Jim and Axhi, who will also make their picks for the upcoming Bears game. "FOX Kickoff Sunday" will air each Sunday morning at 10:00am, with the season premiere on September 9th.

Waddle, Miller, and Canellis

BEARS GAME DAY LIVE -- This 30-minute pre-game show is hosted by WFLD-TV's Lou Canellis, and features the Chicago Bears radio announcers from WBBM-AM, Jeff Joniak and Tom Thayer. The live show will have the latest updates on the upcoming game from the stadium itself, along with player features and game breakdowns. "Bears Game Day Live" will also feature final thoughts from Chicago Bears Head Coach, Lovie Smith before the team takes the field for warm-ups. The show will air each Sunday morning at 10:30am, with the season premiere on September 9th.

THE FINAL WORD -- This 35-minute show is FOX Chicago's weekly sports wrap-up program, covering all of Chicago's sports teams. While this is a year-round show and not just during the NFL season, for the next few months, its focus will be largely on the Chicago Bears, especially when the team plays on Sundays. Lou Canellis and Tom Waddle host the sports recap program, covering highlights form the weekend's games. Dionne Miller will specifically recap of the Bears game from the Bears locker room (on days when the Bears played at home on Sundays). Additionally, for this NFL season, Brian Urlacher will join Lou Canellis to talk about every Bears game. This is the third straight season for Urlacher to be part of "The Final Word." The show airs each Sunday night at 10:00pm.

BEARS GAME NIGHT LIVE -- Immediately after "The Final Word," "Bears Game Night Live" comes on to give an even more in-depth look at the day's Chicago Bears game. This 25-minute post-game show is hosted by WFLD-TV's Lou Canellis, along with Jeff Joniak and Tom Thayer, the Chicago Bears radio announcers from WBBM-AM. Joniak & Thayer will recap the game they called and have a sit down post-game interview with Chicago bears Head Coach Lovie Smith. "Bears Game Night Live" will air each Sunday evening at 10:35pm, with the season premiere coming this weekend, on September 2nd.

"Bears Game Day Live" and "Bears Game Night Live" are both produced by the Chicago Bears organization themselves, via their Chicago Bears Network.

In addition to these football news/highlight shows, which are exclusive to WFLD-TV, the station will also air the top-rated NFL national pre-game show "FOX NFL Sunday." Season premiering on September 9th at 11:00am, the show will once again be hosted by Curt Menifee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson, as they take a look at everything going on in the NFL each week, plus preview the entire lineup of games. New this season, former "Daily Show" contributor Rob Riggle will be replacing Frank Caliendo, adding comedic bits to the program each week.

The first regular season Chicago Bears game to air on WFLD-TV this season will not be until Sunday, September 23rd. That Week 3 match-up has the Chicago Bears at home against the St. Louis Rams, with the broadcast beginning just before Noon.
