With the first place Chicago White Sox holding a slim two-game lead in the American League Central Division over division rivals the Detroit Tigers, this week's multi-game meeting between the two teams carries a great deal of importance. Comcast SportsNet Chicago will once again be doing it can to support the Southsiders and expanding its coverage of the team.
For what could be the biggest four-game series of the regular season, CSN Chicago will carry the final three broadcasts, September 11th-13th. Bookended around those three broadcasts, CSN Chicago will expand its coverage and will be broadcasting live programming from US Cellular Field, along with adding former White Sox slugger Frank Thomas to its team once again.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 11th, CSN Chicago begins broadcasting live from US Cellular Field over two hours
before the game starts. At 5:00pm will be "Chicago Tribune Live" hosted by David Kaplan. The 60 minute live remote show will preview the huge White Sox/Tigers series and more. At 6:00pm will be "SportsNet Central," once again coming live from US Cellular Field. Sports news anchors Pat Boyle and Mark Schanowski will take an in-depth look at all the White Sox news leading up to the game, as well as the day's top sports stories. At 6:30pm, "White Sox Pre-Game Live" will be at the ball park with hosts Chuck Garfien and Bill Melton. Garfien and Melton will be joined for this entire broadcast and all the pre-game shows for this series by former White Sox superstar "The Big Hurt" Frank Thomas. The pre-game show will breakdown the night's game, plus feature commentary from CSNChicago.com's White Sox "Insider Dan Hayes and other special guests.
The game broadcast itself, with announcers Ken "Hawk" Harrelson & Steve Stone, will run from 7:00pm until approximately 9:45pm. That will be followed by "White Sox Post Game Live" coming from US Cellular Field with Garfien, Melton, and Thomas.
The pre-game shows and post-game shows for Wednesday & Thursday night will again be hosted by Garfien, Melton, and Thomas at approximately the same times and will all be live from US Cellular Field.
Additionally, for Tuesday & Thursday night's games, Frank Thomas will put the "Big Hurt" on Twitter as he takes over CSN Chicago's
"White Sox Talk" Twitter account, providing his thoughts on the game and answering questions.
Game 1 of the Detroit vs Chicago series takes place tonight. WGN-TV has coverage of this first game, however, due to commitments to nationally syndicated CW programming on WGN-TV, WGN Sports will instead be broadcasting the game on WCIU-TV, with coverage beginning at 7:00pm, right before the 7:10pm start of the game.
