WVIV-FM/WVIX-FM, best known as Maxima 103.1 & 93.5, has signed on with a new syndicated morning show program with a deep Chicago connection. "The Enrique Santos Show" now airs on the bi-signal, bilingual music station each weekday morning from 6:00am-10:00am.
Enrique Santos is a Chicago native, who was born and raised here to Cuban parents. He now lives and works out of Miami, FL. In his spare time, Santos, nicknamed "Mr. E," is also a reserve police officer for the Miami Police Department. (He was a full-time police officer before getting into radio many years ago.)
"The Enrique Santos Show" is broadcast out of WRTO-FM in Miami from 6:00am-10:00am EST. The Chicago simulcast is tape delayed by one hour, so as to keep the times the same. "The Enrique Santos Show" is syndicated by Univision Radio, the owner of WVIV-FM/WVIX-FM, and is also currently heard in New York and Phoenix.
Like Chicago's Maxima, Enrique Santos' morning show is bilingual. It has been a crossover hit in Miami by using humor, social satire, big name interviews, and political commentary, while still airing plenty of music. He is well known for his past prank phone calls to public & political figures. While still maintaining his comedic edge, Santos is no longer considered a "Latin shock jock," and his morning show has become more mature recently.
Joining Santos each morning is new co-host Luisa Fernanda. She has done numerous roles in various media over the last 25 years, including being a singer in the pop group Garibaldi, a model, an actress on telenovas, Home Shopping Network pitchperson, a host on Mexican entertainment news programs and variety shows, and co-hosting a few radio shows.
While "The Enrique Santos Show" comes to the Chicago airwaves via Miami, Maxima 103.1/93.5 will still air local news/traffic/weather reports and program the music locally. Chicago fans can request music by texting the song title to 42363 or via the radio station's Facebook page
Enrique Santos' morning show officially launched on Chicago's WVIV-FM/WVIX-FM on August 27th.
