The eyes of the golfing world will be looking at Chicagoland over the next few days, as one of the biggest events in golf, the 39th Ryder Cup Matches, will be held September 28th-30th at the Medinah Country Club in suburban Medinah, IL. There will be an abundance of national coverage, thanks largely to NBC Sports, the Golf Channel, and ESPN. However, there is quite a lot of 2012 Ryder Cup coverage planned locally, as well, especially from WMAQ-TV and Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 Chicago has numerous plans to cover this giant sports event. Every sportscast on NBC 5 this week will be coming live from Medina. The arrival of the golfers, the press conferences, the parties, and all activities surrounding the event will be covered by WMAQ-TV.
WMAQ-TV has four local specials scheduled, three of which will be live. Those specials are as follows:
"NBC5 Breakfast at Medinah" -- Saturday, September 29 - 7:30am-8:00am
This special, live from the Medinah Country Club, will be hosted by Mike Adamle and Peggy Kusinski, who will be joined by NBC Sports Golf Analyst, Mark Rolfing. They will cover the events of Friday's action and look ahead at Saturday's matches.

WMAQ-TV's "Sports Sunday," which begins sometime between 10:45pm and 11:00pm on Sunday evening, depending on the end of the NBC-TV "Sunday Night Football" broadcast, will have Mike Adamle and Laurence Holmes recapping the entire week of Ryder Cup play. Additionally, WMAQ-TV's website, NBCChicago.com
, will have a special Ryder Cup section set up, containing extended coverage of the event, which includes updated scores, highlights, and video interviews.

The "SportsNet Central at the Ryder Cup" segments will be hosted by Pat Boyle and feature a variety of Golf Channel analysts, including Rex Hoggard. The segments will feature a comprehensive breakdown of the day's key moments and many special presentations. Gail Fischer will also provide continuous match reports.
