SmoothChicago.com, the Smooth Jazz concert promoter and now online Smooth Jazz radio station, is putting together a party to celebrate the Smooth Jazz glory days on Chicago radio. The "WNUA 95.5 Smooth Jazz Listener Reunion Party & Show" will take place this weekend and feature some of the famed WNUA Smnooth Jazz personalities and plenty of classic Smooth Jazz music performed live.
The "WNUA 95.5 Smooth Jazz Listener Reunion Party & Show" will be hosted by former WNUA-FM personalities Rick O'Dell, Bill Cochran, and Scott Adams. For almost all of WNUA-FM's entire 19 years as a Smooth Jazz station, Rick O'Dell was its heart and soul, serving in numerous positions such as Program Director, Assistant Program Director, and Music Director, and of course, he was also the station's top rated midday DJ. Bill Cochran's deep, soothing voice may be one of the most recognizable ones in Chicago radio. Like O'Dell, Cochran was with the station for pretty much it's entire Smooth Jazz lifespan, serving as its imaging voice, Creative Director, and DJ. Scott Adams was a longtime weekend/fill-in DJ for WNUA-FM, hosting such specialty shows as "The Sounds of Brazil," "The Saturday Show," and for one year, "The Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch."

In addition to the former WNUA Smooth Jazz hosts, the reunion party will feature live Smooth Jazz artists from Chicago and elsewhere performing all evening. The room will be filled with fellow fans and friends of Chicago Smooth Jazz radio.
The "WNUA 95.5 Smooth Jazz Listener Reunion Party & Show" is taking place this Saturday, September 29th at the Hotel InterContinental O'Hare (5300 N. River Rd, Rosemont) inside the Montrose Ballroom. To accommodate everybody, there will be TWO Reunion Parties happening that night. The first is from 6:00pm-8:00pm and the second is from 9:00pm-11:00pm. General admission tickets for either show are just $15 in advance, which can be purchased at this link
HERE. Tickets are $20 at the door.
O'Dell, Cochran, and Adams have been off the Chicago airwaves
since last April, when the owners of WLFM-LP, which had been airing a Smooth Jazz/Smooth AC format, using former WNUA-FM Smooth Jazz staffers, took a cash offer from Merlin Media, allowing them to take over the programming of the radio/TV station. Merlin Media promptly ended the Smooth format and released all of the staffers to instead air Alternative Rock music. Since then, Rick O'Dell has worked tirelessly to try and find a Chicago radio outlet for the Smooth Jazz or Smooth AC format. He hopes to have some good news for the many fans of the format in the coming months.
In the meantime, O'Dell, Cochran, Adams and other Chicago Smooth Jazz radio favorites can be found blogging, reminiscing and keeping fans up to date on their latest developments on the
Chicago Smooth blogsite.
