Last night at the 21st annual Radio Mercury Awards ceremony, which took place in New York City as part of the 2012 Advertising Week Conference, WGN-AM won a prestigious honor for a radio commercial it produced. An ad created by WGN Radio's Jason Skaggs won for the best radio station produced commercial.

The winning commercial was entitled "Shifty Eyes" and was created for the local business Oak Park Natural Pet & Fish. The writer, producer, and creative director of the spot was WGN Radio's Commercial Services Manager, Jason Skaggs.
Jason Skaggs has been with WGN-AM in his current role since March 2010.
In a statement issued last night, soon after the winners were announced, WGN Radio's Vice President & General Manager Tom Langmyer issued a statement saying: "We're honored as a station and proud to have such a talented person in Jason on our team. Jason creates unique and memorable messages that deliver real results for our advertisers. He gets it."
In addition to the high honor, the award comes with a $5,000 cash prize.
