WLS-AM's Don Wade & Roma To Extend Time Away Due To Chemotherapy

WLS-AM's morning team of Don Wade & Roma, who were were optimistically hoping to be back on the air by the end of this month, will now off even longer, as Don Wade takes further measures to insure his health. He will soon begin a six-week treatment of chemotherapy and radiation, due to a cancerous tumor that was removed from his brain on late last month.

That operation was due to an incident that happened earlier last month. Husband & wife Don & Roma Wade were enjoying a trip to New York City, where they were to take part in the Central Park wedding of their daughter, Heather. Unfortunately, while there in New York, Don Wade suffered a seizure. Wade, who is 71 years old, then underwent a series of tests to find a reason behind the seizure. From those tests, doctors discovered a growth on his brain.

The surgery to remove the growth was performed on the morning of September 27th. After a brief stay in the hospital, Don Wade returned home to recuperate from the surgery and await the results on the tests of the growth. Based on those test results, doctors felt it was best for Don Wade to undergo the chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Late this afternoon, WLS-AM's website posted up a statement about Don Wade's medical condition and upcoming treatments.

The Wade's agent, Eliot Ephraim, said today: "It's not reflective of bad news, it's just the next step given what they've determined this is."
