Comcast SportsNet To Honor Johnny "Red" Kerr & Norm Van Lier Friday

This Friday, Comcast SportsNet Chicago will honor Johnny "Red" Kerr & Norm Van Lier on the one-year anniversary of their sad passing. The two Chicago Bulls legends and beloved local media figures passed away within hours of each other on February 26th, 2009. CSN will be providing viewers with a tribute-filled evening Friday, which will include live coverage of the United Center's in-arena video tribute during the Chicago Bulls/Portland Trailblazers game telecast.

Comcast SportsNet starts the evening of tributes beginning at 5:30pm on "Chicago Tribune Live." Host David Kaplan will be joined by Kerr's longtime broadcast partner Tom Dore and CSN's Bulls studio analyst Kendall Gill to discuss the lives & careers of these two fan favorites who left us last year. At 6:30pm, CSN's "SportsNite" will feature an extended video tribute, along with in-show bumpers chronicling the most memorable broadcasting highlights from their storied on-air careers. At 7:00pm is the Chicago Bulls vs the Portland Trailblazers game, live from the United Center. During a break in first quarter of the game telecast, CSN will not air commercials, but instead will carry the in-arena Jumbotron tribute to Kerr and Van Lier as prepared by the Chicago Bulls organization. The Jumbotron tribute will also air during the 10:00pm edition of "SportsNite." Remembrances of "Red" and "Stormin' Norman" will also take place on the Bulls Post Game show which will air around 9:30pm.

Fans can also visit Comcast SportsNet's website for remembrance video excerpts from "Chicago Tribune Live" and "SportsNite," as well as a message board for fans to post their thoughts and memories of the duo.
