WXRT-FM To Release 'ONXRT: Live From The Archives - Volume 14' CD

As they have been doing for almost 20 years, WXRT-FM/93XRT is releasing another compilation CD filled with rare live tracks from XRT artists, with the proceeds from the disc's sale going to charities. Next month will see the release of the much-anticipated "ONXRT: Live From The Archives - Volume 14" CD.

This latest release from WXRT features 13 tracks, all of which are songs that were performed live and aired exclusively on 93XRT in the months and years past. The tracks for this new CD have been pulled from in-studio performances, live remotes, and XRT-sponsored shows around Chicagoland over the last two years. The songs were recorded from within the WXRT studios and at such local Chicago music venues as Double Door, Elbo Room, Mayne Stage, Martyrs, UIC Pavilion, Vic Theatre, and more. None of these versions of the songs can be found anywhere else.

Since 7:30am this morning, WXRT-FM has been slowly releasing the names of the artists and songs that will be appearing on the new CD, both on the air and on their Facebook page. Here now are all 13 tracks on the new "ONXRT: Live From The Archives - Volume 14" CD:

Arcade Fire "We Used To Wait"
The Shins "Simple Song"
The Civil Wars "Barton Hollow"
Delta Spirit "California"
Garbage "I Think I'm Paranoid"
Wilco "I Might"
The Wallflowers "One Headlight"
The Head and the Heart "Lost In My Mind"
Delta Rae "Bottom of the River"
JD McPherson "North Side Gal"
Two Door Cinema Club "What You Know"
Heartless Bastards "Parted Ways"
Brandon Flowers (of The Killers) "When You Were Young"

WXRT-FM has videos of over half of these songs being performed live, while they were being recorded for broadcast and this CD. These videos have been added to the radio station's website on the new webpage 93XRT.com/ONXRT to help promote the CD. Other information about these exclusive tracks can be found there, as well.

"ONXRT: Live From The Archives - Volume 14" goes on sale exclusively at Chicagoland Target stores (in store only, not online) beginning Tuesday, December 4th, for only $13.99 each. All Target locations in northeast Illinois and far northwest Indiana will carry the new CD, which features artwork with Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired stained glass designs. There are only a limited number of the CDs being produced, meaning once they are sold out, no more will be pressed or sold. The tracks from the album will not be sold digitally and will not be available elsewhere.

As is always the case with WXRT CDs, the purchaser will not only gain some excellent, exclusive music, but will also be helping out charities. Proceeds from the sale of this new CD will be split among two charitable groups: Rock for Kids and Sarah's Circle. The Chicago-based, non-profit, charitable organization Rock For Kids provides free music education to underprivileged elementary school students in Chicago, enriching their lives. Since the late 1970s, Sarah's Circle has been a refuge for women who are homeless or in need of a safe space from an abusive relationship. The north side of Chicago organization provides emotional and physical aid to local women in need.

The ONXRT charity CD series began back in 1993. Since then, WXRT has now produced fourteen of these compact discs full of rare live cuts and one compact disc full of rare holiday songs by XRT artists. The last "ONXRT: Live From The Archives" CD was released in December 2011. That disc was sold out in just over two weeks. Due to the limited nature of these CDs, many of the past WXRT discs have become collectors items.
