In the latest issue of the industry magazine Radio Ink, they have a multi-page special feature entitled, "The Most Influential African Americans In Radio." Of the nineteen individuals singled out, two are familiar names in the Chicago radio industry and another two are syndicated stars with Chicago roots.
Among those considered "Most Influential" in the Radio Ink feature was Melody Spann Cooper, Midway Broadcasting & WVON's Chairperson. "Successful managers will add multi-faceted people to their team and develop a new media strategy that is as dynamic and exciting as your radio operation," said the daughter of the legendary Pervis Spann.

Clear Channel Radio Chicago's President and Market Manager, Earl Jones was also honored in Radio Ink's feature. He gave these words of advice in the article: "Focus on inspiring, motivating and empowering the team by clearly communicating objectives, measuring progress, and rewarding successful achievement of individual and team goals."

Also honored in the feature was Tom Joyner and Steve Harvey, both of whom used to host radio programs live in Chicago and now both are syndicated into town -- Joyner on Soul106.3 and Harvey on V103.
