Tonight, JBTV launches its 25th anniversary season, and even more than that, it is the beginning of a brand new era for the iconic Chicago music video television show. The show's longtime host and one man show, Jerry Bryant, has brought on additional help as of this year. JBTV will now have a new host in the talented former Q101 radio personality, Ryan Manno, along with roving reporter Jenna Martinelli, a Chicago Blackhawks' Ice Crew member. Jerry Bryant -- the "JB" of JBTV -- will still be an integral part of the show, focusing on historic, rare and unseen footage from the past two dozen years worth of shows. There are new developments behind the scenes, as well as the program has a new General Manager in Christian Picciolini, and for the first time ever, a new corporate sponsor in Gibson Guitars. The tiny JBTV crew has now grown to over 20 individuals and continues to grow. The plan of Bryant's and Picciolini's is to eventually turn JBTV into a Chicago-based 24-hour online music network. News of this exciting infusion of new blood for JBTV was first mentioned on this very site back in early January. Coming very soon, even more hosts will be added as JBTV will begin to air new niche music programs online. Tobias Jeg of Red Scare Records and Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms will host the new punk-focused show, JBTV Static Age. Jeff Baraka, aka O Type Star, the Hip-Hop artist and MC, will host JBTV Urban Beat. Both shows will soon be shown regularly on the JBTV website, as will episodes of the regular JBTV program. Tonight's season premiere episode will feature performances & interviews with Portugal The Man, Treaty Of Paris, and Switchfoot. Jerry Bryant will also have rare, archived JBTV footage from Jeff Buckley, No Doubt, The Dandy Warhols, and 30 Seconds To Mars. The coming weeks have Silversun Pickups, New Found Glory, Saves The Day, The Swellers, and many other artists lined up. The historic 25th season starts tonight at 11:00pm on WJYS-TV, Channel 62. The show will have repeats aired on Thursdays & Tuesdays at 8:00pm and Sunday nights at Midnight on cable channel 25. Starting tomorrow, the episode can also be streamed on the JBTV website. Video podcasts can be subscribed to via iTunes. ![]()
