WGN-AM has hired a new employee. Jason Skaggs has been brought on as the station's Commercial Services Manager. Skaggs' responsibilities will be to oversee commercial production for direct clients, along with writing & creating copy for live commercials.
In what is a pleasant surprise, Jason Skaggs does not come from a Jacor or Clear Channel background. He most recently was the Corporate Creative Director for Cumulus Media's Sound Solutions in Atlanta, where he managed spot requests for 384 radio stations in 68 markets. A radio ad man with over 15 years experience, his work for Cumulus has won him a few Mercury Awards.
Skaggs has been called a "one man show and specialty talent" because of his ability to also create music for commercials, if need be. He is a drummer at heart, but also sings, plays electric & acoustic guitars, bass guitar, harmonica and piano.
Jason Skaggs said today, "It's truly an honor to start working at the greatest radio station on the planet. Providing solution based radio advertising for clients has always been my passion. I am extremely energized to be part of this great team of driven professionals."
Skaggs, and his cat Abby, relocated to Chicago last weekend. His first official day at WGN is tomorrow, March 18th.
