Earlier today at a special luncheon at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, WTMX-FM was awarded a NAB Crystal Radio Award. The NAB Crystal Radio Awards recognize radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service.
WTMX was one of ten winners selected from fifty finalists and the only Chicago-area station recognized for its charitable accomplishments this year.
In 2009, The Mix promoted such successful events as "The Eric and Kathy 36 Hour Radiothon," "Eric & Kathy Charity Golf Outing," WTMX's annual Holiday concert, WTMX's team for the two-day Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and the "Make A Difference" section on their website.
Jerry Schnacke, Vice President/Market Manager of Bonneville Chicago pointed out that "individually, WTMX's employees personally donated more than 1,674 hours of service to 71 organizations. We empowered more than 453 charitable causes, donating more than $7.6 million in free media support through our Web site, on-air, streaming audio, PSAs, interviews and community events. WTMX encourages a culture of giving back."
The other nine winners of this year's awards were:
KBHP-FM Bemidji, Minn.
KCVM-FM Cedar Falls, Iowa
KSWD-FM Los Angeles, Calif.
WFMP-FM Minneapolis, Minn.
WIKY-FM Evansville, Ind.
WIL-FM St. Louis, Mo.
WJBC-AM Bloomington, Ill.
WLEN-FM Adrian, Mich.
WTOP-FM Washington, DC
Walking up to the podium to accept their Crystal Award is nothing new for WTMX. They have won the award many times over many years. Congratulations to the employees of WTMX & Bonneville Chicago once again!
