Chicago radio talk show host, Geoff Pinkus, who can be heard each Sunday on WIND-AM's "Livin' Large" show and right here on this website with the
"Unscripted & In Your Face" podcasts with Chet Coppock, has always been an admirer of cigars -- a frequent subject on his shows. He now has his very own cigar named after him. Available as of this week is the brand new cigar "The Pinker," a private label, custom blend made exclusively by Gurkha Cigars of Miami Florida.
Geoff Pinkus connected with widely respected Gurkha Cigars for this new venture. He, along with Gurkha founder and cigar master Kaizad Hansotia, formulated the new Gurkha "Pinker" product: a very flavorful, medium to full bodied cigar. The Gurkha "Pinker" is available in one size, a 6 x 60 (6 inches long and 60/64ths of an inch in diameter), which is among the largest of standard cigar sizes, sometimes called a Double Toro or a Toro Gordo.
The partnership between Pinkus & Gurkha seemed natural. Pinkus found that Gurkha Cigars, advertised as "The Worlds Finest Cigars," connected well with his radio show, "Livin' Large."
According to Pinkus, "I didn’t want to associate myself with an unknown cigar that had my picture on it and was seen as a novelty. I wanted to offer people a high quality cigar that they would want to smoke again and again. Everything about Gurkha is 'first class,' from the packaging to the beautiful embossed rings on the cigars to the quality of the tobacco." After smoking one of the first cigars to arrive, Pinkus explained, "That’s exactly what I wanted -- a cigar that's a good size, that tastes great and burns evenly -- I couldn't be happier with the result."
A few years ago, WIND-AM's morning show host, Big John Howell, gave Geoff Pinkus the nickname of "Pinker." It is only natural that the cigar have the name, too.
The new "Pinker" cigar is available at cigar shops, restaurants, golf courses and private clubs all over the Chicagoland area. It will also be made available soon on a new, but not yet launched website:
ThePinker.com.
The cigar was first physically revealed to the public at the Cigar expo that took place in Hammond, IN last week, the Midwest Smoke-Out. It will also be part of Geoff Pinkus' radio show, which will be a live remote at River Grove's Club Amore (8166 Grand Ave.), taking place this Sunday at 5:00pm. Pinkus will also be going on a promotional "Puffin' on The Pinker" tour at various Chicago area cigar shops and restaurants. The schedule of events can be found on Geoff Pinkus' website
