For so many months, it has been a virtual ratings tie between The Score and ESPN1000. For the first time in a long time, it appears that The Score is truly in the lead and Chicago's #1 sports station. However, before too many champagne bottles get opened at WSCR, it should be pointed out that these ratings come on the first month of the White Sox regular season. Hope always springs eternal each April for Chicago's baseball fans and ratings for the baseball broadcasts tend to be good. Clearly the White Sox broadcasts have helped the station break its tie with WMVP. However, should the Sox get into a deep slump, those high ratings may quickly fall in line with ESPN1000's ratings. The next real test for these two stations will come in the late fall/early winter to see which station connects best with the fans looking for Chicago Bears & Blackhawks talk -- and perhaps Bulls talk, as well, depending on the LeBron James & head coach situations. (WMVP is the Bulls' flagship station for the 2010-2011 season, so they should have an advantage there.)
