WBBM-AM, CBS Radio Chicago, and the Chicago Bears organization are teaming up to present a concert event to help kick off the Chicago Bears 2013 season. The concert will take place next month and tickets are now on sale.
The Bears Kickoff Concert will take place on Thursday, September 5th at 7:00pm at the historic Aragon Ballroom, located at 1106 W. Lawrence Avenue in Chicago. (Doors open at 6:00pm.)
The live event, which is being sponsored by Tribune Company's RedEye and MillerCoors' Miller Lite, will feature a concert by Lupe Fiasco, as well as Michael Franti & Spearhead. Along with the music, the night will serve as a good old fashioned pep rally.
WBBM-AM, the radio home of the Chicago Bears' broadcasts, will have Jeff Joniak and Tom Thayer at the event. The two Bears broadcasters will emcee the preseason pep rally.
Instead of the traditional Hollywood red carpet, fans and players will enter the Aragon Ballroom via the Bears-colored orange carpet.
Once inside, attendees will see the Bears' historical display reliving the team's most memorable moments and video highlights. There will be players from the 2013 Chicago Bears team on hand to meet those in attendance. The team will also be giving away great prizes for Bears fans, including tickets to the September 8th season opening game against the Cincinnati Bengals, autographed footballs, autographed mini-helmets, and an autographed full-sized helmet.
The general admission tickets for the Bears Kickoff Concert are $35 per person (plus various fees, which could potentially add up to an additional $16) and went on sale yesterday. Tickets can be purchased online HERE
WBBM-AM (simulcast on WCFS-FM) will be promoting this concert heavily on air and online. As this is being run by CBS Radio Chicago, other CBS-owned radio stations in Chicago -- WSCR-AM, WUSN-FM, WXRT-FM, WBBM-FM, and WJMK-FM -- will also be promoting the event.
