WGN Morning News Wins Ratings On Polar Vortex Monday

On Monday morning, while Chicagoland was stuck in a record-setting deep freeze, more television viewers turned to WGN-TV that any other local station. The WGN Morning News was #1 in the ratings in overall households from 6:00am-10:00am, and #1 with Adults 25-54 from 5:00am-10:00am.

Here is how WGN-TV fared in the ratings for Adults 25-54 yesterday morning (01/06/14)...
5:00am-6:00am: 1.8 (#1)
6:00am-7:00am: 3.2 (#1)
7:00am-9:00am: 4.0 (#1)
9:00am-10:00am: 4.3 (#1)

Here is how WGN-TV fared in the ratings for Households (all ages) yesterday morning (01/06/14)...
5:00am-6:00am: 1.9 (#2)
6:00am-7:00am: 3.9 (#1)
7:00am-9:00am: 6.5 (#1)
9:00am-10:00am: 6.0 (#1)

The ratings information is based on Nielsen's live viewing plus same-day DVR viewing.

Of course, the seriousness of the deeply frigid temperatures didn't stop the WGN Morning News team from having some fun with the situation yesterday morning.

WGN-TV's feature reporter Marcus Leshock did some science experiments outside, while WGN producer Jeff Hoover did his best Johnny Carson impersonation.
