With the new school season about to start, WGN-TV will be holding their 9th annual "WGN-TV Back-to-School Kids Fair" tomorrow, August 13, from 6:00am-9:00am. This will take place at the WGN-TV Studios, which is located at 2501 W. Bradley Place in Chicago. The "Kids Fair" is free and will feature food, health screenings, safety tips, fun events for the kids, and everything parents need to get their little ones ready for the school year ahead.
The WGN Morning News will be broadcasting live from the event happening right outside their walls. All of WGN-TV's morning news talents will be on hand to meet visitors and have some fun.
Plenty of booths & tents will be set up at the Fair. WGN-TV's booth will feature the Wheel of Fun with chances to win prizes from numerous sponsors. The Chicago Cubs booth will have "kids club" fun. ABT Electronics will have a tent full of iPads for the kids to explore. The Kohl McCormick Story Bus will have interactive fun for the children to explore. The Brookfield Zoo and Shedd Aquarium will each have booths for some animal kingdom fun. Costco and Quill will have booths where parents can pick up some school supplies and goodies. There will be free food & refreshment booths by such vendors as Market Day, Dunkin Donuts, Pepsi, Ann Sather's, Harry & David and Dominick's.
There will be plenty of live entertainment on hand, as well. Members from "Shrek: The Musical" will be performing, as will the Jesse White Tumblers and the South Shore Drill Team. Walking around and posing for pictures will be the mascots from every major Chicago sports team, along with Darth Vader and some Storm Troopers from Star Wars.
There will also be a pair of inflatable bouncers, face painting, balloon animal artists, magicians, free haircuts at the SuperCuts booth, and even a "back-to-school fashion show" going on at tomorrow's Fair.
The "WGN-TV Back-to-School Kids Fair" wants to be more than just fun, though. In the "HealthyKey Health Zone," there will be licensed physicians on hand to perform free back-to-school physical exams and health screenings for those who have their medical records. The Chicago Department of Health will be providing free lead screenings and immunizations. There will also be free vision screenings, free toothbrushes & dental information, free information on juvenile diabetes, health tips, information on child seat safety, free fingerprinting for kids by the City Clerk's Office, free first aid lessons. and much more.
WGN-TV has been successfully putting on this Fair for children for many years now, but it only goes on for three hours tomorrow morning and there is a lot to do there, so attendees are encouraged to get an early start. Also, even though this is outdoors, no pets are allowed.
