A big surprise change has occurred today at Clear Channel Chicago's WNUA-FM. Mega 95.5's Program Director, Omar Romero, who also is the station's Afternoon Drive personality, is no longer part of the station.
The move comes as an unexpected shock to the staffers at WNUA. Just yesterday afternoon, Romero was happily posting up plugs for his station and for WNUA's upcoming MegaFest 2010 on his
Facebook page. Yet, just three hours ago, Romero posted up a much less happy status on his Facebook page, saying "I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter."
Tony Coles, Clear Channel Radio Chicago's Vice-President of Programming & Operations, is not saying what prompted the sudden exit for Omar Romero. He is only saying that a search is now underway for his replacement.
For now, Gonzo, co-host of WNUA's morning show, will act as Interim Program Director until a permanent replacement is hired. Jose Luis Marquez, aka "El Pitufo," will continue on in his role as Assistant Program Director and take over afternoons, where he co-hosted with Romero.
