Former WCFS-FM/Fresh 105.9 personality Rick Hall did not stay "on the beach" very long. It was announced today that he is joining The Las Vegas-based SOS Radio Network as its Music Director and afternoon DJ.
Although he spent a year and a half as a weekender at WUSN-FM/US 99.5, Rick Hall is best known to Chicago radio listeners as one of the original three hosts hired soon after the launch of WCFS-FM in the spring of 2008. He went from the station's first afternoon drive host, to the morning fill-in host after the release of Mike LeBaron, to becoming the midday host. He was the last of the original three to be let go from the so-far ill-received station. Hall was released on June 17th
of this year.
Since his release from Fresh, life has been busier than ever for Hall. He and his wife, Sarah had their first child
near the end of last month, plus he has been doing numerous fill-in jobs on religious radio programming, including the Weekend 22 show and the Air1 and Shine.FM networks. He also just celebrated his birthday two weekends ago.
Prior to his time in Chicago, Rick Hall has worked at religious radio stations in Milwaukee, Rockford, Peoria and Morris.
Hall, who has almost always worked in radio within a certain radius of Chicago, will soon be Las Vegas bound. The SOS Radio Network, which is owned by Faith Communications Corporation, has it's home base on KSOS-FM 90.5, a non-commercial radio station located on Sixth Street in Las Vegas, NV. The Contemporary Christian music format is simulcasted out to numerous other stations and markets in the West & South (36 other stations in 10 states, according to information posted
on the SOS Network website).
In addition to owning the SOS Radio Network, Faith Communications Corporation also owns the home radio station itself, KSOS-FM and another in Utah, KAAN-AM.
SOS Radio Network Program Director Scott Herrold said in a statement today, "Rick's going to be a great leader on our team! I'm excited his wife isn't fearful of raising their new baby girl in Vegas!"
Rick Hall added, "My wife and I have been praying for God to reveal the next chapter in our life, so we're thrilled to be able to call SOS Radio and the city of Las Vegas home."
Hall's first day on the job with KSOS as afternoon host and Music Director will be Thursday, September 2nd. Since the network does not reach anywhere near Chicago, fans of Hall's can listen online at this link HERE
