Pete Galindo -- who is better known by one of his many nicknames, including Petersworth, Peter Pu, Pooter, Poots McGee, but most of all, just plain Petey -- is leaving Chicago and heading back home to Texas. The former co-host & producer of the DreX Morning Show on WKSC-FM/103.5 Kiss-FM will be joining the already established morning show on KXTN-FM/Tejano 107.5 in San Antonio.
Petey had been DreX's sidekick & producer in San Antonio, TX, since 1996 (except for a short period of time around 1999). When WKSC brought the show to Chicago in January of 2003, Petey came with, along with Mel T. At the end of 2007, Clear Channel Chicago Radio released numerous staffers in a cost-cutting move -- one of which was Petey Galindo. Since then, finding work in Chicago has been difficult. There were some guest spots on Geoff Pinkus' WIND-AM overnight show, but that was about it for radio work. He has also been the host of "312 Talent Tuesdays," a weekly talent competition held live on stage at the Grape Street Piano Bar in the Streeterville neighborhood, as well as working part-time with the Illinois Center for Broadcasting.
Finally, opportunity has knocked on Petey's door and he is returning back home to San Antonio. On KXTN-FM, he will be joining the "Jonny Ramirez in the Morning Show" as co-host and producer. Galindo will be working a very long shift of 5:00am-Noon.
This is a happy homecoming for Galindo, who is a native of Lytle, TX, a south suburb of San Antonio. He also attended San Antonio College and has worked in San Antonio radio for a few years, prior to his Chicago move.
Time for some home cookin' for Petey!
