Chicago Blackhawks 1st Round 2017 NHL Playoffs Series Broadcast Schedule

The Chicago Blackhawks are back in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the ninth season in a row, this time taking on their division rival, the Nashville Predators. The first game of the Blackhawks post-season will be Thursday night. Games for this series will be seen on local television on CSN Chicago and NBC-TV (WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 in Chicago), as well as nationally on NBCSN (NBC Sports Network) and CNBC, while all radio broadcasts will be on WGN-AM 720.

CSN Chicago will have the exclusive local television broadcasts for the majority of the games in this playoff series. In most cases, the station will also re-air the Blackhawks playoff games in the overnight hours later that same night.

In addition to the first round Western Conference playoff action, the local sports station will have special programming and unique coverage of the team, while the station's website will offer exclusive Blackhawks video streams, podcasts, and information for fans.

Among the special presentations by CSN Chicago include live pre-game shows for all games that air on the network, plus live post-game shows for all playoff games (even those that may not air on CSN Chicago). All post-game press conferences will stream live on CSNChicago.com. Those pre-game and post-game shows will be hosted by Pat Boyle, Steve Konroyd, and Jamal Mayers.

Wednesday night at 8:30pm and again at 10:30pm, CSN Chicago will broadcast a "Blackhawks Playoff Preview" special, featuring a detailed look at the Blackhawks vs. Predators playoff match-up, a recap of every regular season battle against the Preds, some exclusive interviews with team personnel, along with the very latest player status updates and line-up changes. The 30-minute special will be hosted by the pre-game/post-game team of Boyle, Konroyd, and Mayers.

Any baseball or basketball games previously scheduled to be broadcast on CSN Chicago on the nights the Blackhawks playoff games are now scheduled, will be shifted to the station's auxiliary outlet CSN+. This includes the April 17th Cubs/Brewers game, which now will move to CSN+. Check CSNChicago.com for exact locations of CSN+ and CSN+HD for your television provider and area.

With the Chicago Blackhawks being Stanley Cup champions three times in recent years and one of the favorites to win it again this year, there is a great deal of interest from all over the country to see these games. All of the Blackhawks first round playoff games will be seen nationally on NBC or on an NBC-owned cable station such as NBCSN or CNBC. This is in addition to games being seen in the Chicago market on CSN Chicago. The only exception to these games having a local broadcast will be weekend games seen on NBC (such as Game #2), as those will be exclusive to NBC.

WGN-AM, the flagship radio home of the Chicago Blackhawks game broadcasts, will have all of the games live on the radio, as well as streaming on WGNRadio.com. These radio broadcasts will also feature pre-game shows, intermission shows, and in most cases, post-game shows.
