This news was first leaked here on this site last Friday, but today CBS Radio Chicago has made the news official. WBBM-FM's APD/MD Erik Bradley has been named as the APD/MD of WCFS-FM. Bradley will now be the Assistant Program Director and Music Director for
BOTH CBS-owned radio stations in town. The promotion is effective immediately.
Bradley replaces Joe Epperson who was let go from his APD/MD position at WCFS-FM at the end of the day last Friday.
Since October 1993, Erik Bradley has been with WBBM-FM, guiding its musical direction. While with B96 for these past 17 years, he has been the recipient of 25 Music Director of the Year titles from multiple industry organizations & publications. Prior to coming to Chicago, Bradley was a Music Director at radio stations in Charlotte, NC and Kansas City, MO.
WCFS-FM's Program Director Jim Ryan said about his new right hand man in today's CBS Radio press release: "When you think of Chicago Radio, there is always one name that comes to mind... it's Erik Bradley. His knowledge of the Chicago audience is unparalleled, his relationships in the music community are unrivaled and I am excited to have him as my partner at Fresh! The station is poised for a new level of growth with the team we are building."
Erik Bradley added: "I'm beyond excited to be working with and learning from Jim Ryan as we make Fresh 105.9 a major player in Chicago. I'm thrilled to be gaining the invaluable experience of working with Fresh and am extremely confident that the team Jim is assembling will take the station to new highs."
WCFS-FM, better known as Fresh 105.9, began in November 2007. Since then, the station has burned its way through numerous DJs, PDs, and staffers, and floundering in most ratings. The station has struggled to find an image & musical identity since its start. CBS Radio is hoping (and banking) on Jim Ryan to correct the station's numerous problems. Since Ryan's hire on April 13th, earlier this year, he has brought on two new full-time DJs and now a new APD/MD in Erik Bradley.
