WGN-AM Premieres New Sports Show; Promotes Alex Quigley

WGN-AM will be premiering a brand new sports show tonight at 10:30pm. The show is "Chicago Preps Plus," which will be a live wrap up of Friday night's high school football action.

"Chicago Preps Plus" is hosted by Alex Quigley, with contributions by WGN-AM sports producer Justin Weiner and high school football expert Tim O'Halloran, a writer for the Chicago Tribune and Rivals.com.

The 30 minute show will air each Friday night at 10:30pm throughout the high school football season, or immediately following any Chicago Cubs or Chicago Blackhawks Friday night game broadcast.

In other WGN-AM news, the station has promoted Alex Quigley to Interim Assistant Program Director effective Monday, September 13. Quigley is the host of the aforementioned "Chicago Preps Plus" and the co-host of Chicago Now Radio" with Amy Guth. He also is a sports blogger for the Tribune's ChicagoNow blog site. Prior to joining WGN-AM, Quigley was best known in Chicago as one of WKQX-FM's top rock jocks, working various shifts for the station on & off for nine years. Before WKQX, Quigley spent two years working at a radio station in Bakersfield, CA as Program Director and drive time DJ.

Quigley is filling the APD void (at least on an interim basis for now) created when Dan Zampillo left the station at the end of August to take a new position with XM/Sirius Radio in New York.
