WMAQ Launches New 'Grizzly' Bears Blog

WMAQ-TV's website today launched a new blogsite within their website, dedicated to nothing but unique Chicago Bears coverage. The blogsite is called "Grizzly Detail" and each week will seek to provide in-depth coverage of the team, the games, and on six key Bears individuals.

For now, the six key Bears personnel the site will be spotlighting are: Jay Cutler, Brian Urlacher, Johnny Knox, Julius Peppers, Lovie Smith, and Jerry Angelo. "Grizzly Detail" will focus on what the website describes as "those men who are in the best position to recapture the Bears' gridiron glory."

The writing duties for the new blog will be largely done by Maggie Hendricks, a Chicago-based sports writer, who previously was best known for her Mixed Martial Arts reporting for Yahoo.com Sports and for "Fight!" Magazine.

Joining her contributions on the blog will be the NBC5 sports anchors, Paula Faris, Peggy Kusinski, Darryl Hawks and Mike Adamle. Bears Hall-of-Famer and WSCR-AM contributor Dan Hampton will do weekly video reports for the site, breaking down the most recent Bears game.

The new blog site plans on being updated at least daily (often multiple times a day) throughout the Bears 2010 season.

"Grizzly Detail" also plans on using social media tie-ins. Their Twitter page is already set up and a Facebook group is expected this week.

This is the second special blogsite that NBCChicago.com has set up within its own website. As mentioned here in late March, WMAQ set up a political blog called Ward Room.
